SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - KSLA uncovered nearly two hours of body camera footage from a Shreveport woman’s arrest for neglect of family charges. source

Officers with the Shreveport Police Department were originally called for a domestic dispute earlier this month but arrested Calvinitri White, a mother of three, after observing unsanitary conditions in her home.

Those charges have since been dropped.

KSLA Chief Investigator Ashley Graham takes a look at the footage.

Officers arrived at White’s apartment complex in response to a domestic dispute. According to a police report, White’s brother had called police about an argument between her and the father of her children.

The video shows after police interviewed each person separately outside, they went inside the apartment. That’s when an officer asks about bugs inside the kitchen.

“How often you do dishes around here?” an officer in the video asked.

The video reveals White’s mother, who was at the home watching the children, tells the officer they have requested help from the landlord for months to deal with the bugs.

“We put in two work orders for that,” she said.

Body camera footage shows White and the officer going room by room before eventually leaving the apartment with White’s three young children and her mother still inside.

The officer places White in a vehicle then makes a call to Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services, expressing his concern about her children.

The officer comes back inside minutes later with a second officer showing the same area in the kitchen.

When he comes back to White, the conversation shifts from her domestic dispute to the conditions in her home. Footage shows White pleading her case as an officer reads her Miranda Rights.

The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office rejected charges against White earlier this week.

In a statement to KSLA, the DA said they found proof she had asked her landlord for help with the bugs multiple times this year.

KSLA also reached out to the property owner at Village Square Apartments for comment. So far, there has been no response.
